Story

Our Story

FROM SEA TO SUMMIT.

X-Pac® is a brand of Dimension-Polyant, the world leader in manufacturing advanced, high-quality sailcloth. The X-Pac® story is one of innovation and determination. It’s a story that began with a team of passionate sailors and textile enthusiasts — each with equal amounts of grit in their teeth and saltwater in their veins — who saw a need for a better sail and set out to revolutionize the industry. Today, over 50 years later, we are the world leader in manufacturing advanced, high-quality sail cloth.

On that foundation of innovation, we built our X-Pac® line of laminate pack fabrics. Much like a technical racing sail, a X-Pac® needs to perform in the face of varying environmental and physical forces. Our fabrics do that and then some. Remarkably durable with an impressive strength-to-weight ratio and 100% waterproof. X-Pac® fabrics are designed to perform, no matter what you encounter.

Sustainability

Sustainability

Since day one, a deep-rooted love of the ocean and outdoors has been a driving force at Dimension-Polyant. We believe spending time on the water and in the outdoors is the cornerstone to a happy and healthy life. In order to help preserve our environment for future generations, we have achieved our initial carbon neutrality goals, exceeding all environmental and labor standards set forth by North American and European regulatory commissions, but we know there’s more to accomplish. We’ve identified three key areas of focus—long-lasting durable products, responsible materials, and eco-friendly facilities.

Durable Products

Durable Products

According to the Council for Textile Recycling, 85% of post-consumer waste textiles end up in our waste stream. Rugged, long-lasting products like those made from X-Pac® laminates are built for the long haul, not the landfill.

Durable Products

Responsible materials

In 2022 we launched our line of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fabrics, called RX, sourced from recycled plastic bottles
along the east coast of the United States. In addition, we established the cleenTEC® seal, which is given
to fabrics that utilize recycled, bio-based, or sustainably sourced raw materials. As we look to add more fabrics to
the portfolio, look for the cleenTEC® seal to identify which fabric
offerings qualify.

Durable Products

Eco-friendly facilities

We are proud of the work we’ve done to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing in Germany and the US. By
thermally oxidizing VOCs, our buildings recycle heat and emit clean air and since early 2021, our plants are powered
by 100% renewable-sourced electricity. The cleenTEC® seal serves as an orientation aid to show our dedication to
sustainability beyond our facility.

Testing

Testing

Rigorous doesn't even begin to describe our product testing. It starts with an idea, a passion for innovation, and a desire to create a better fabric — period. But before any product is brought to life, it gets put to the test in our state-of-the-art lab. Only when we’re sure our fabrics will live up to our stringent standards will they see the light of day. We wouldn’t have it any other way and neither should you.
